March is National Women’s Month, a time to recognize, honor, and uplift the contributions of women throughout history and in our communities today. As part of our Women Making Change Initiative, we seek to educate, elevate, and celebrate the achievements of women through thought-provoking discussions and inspiring gatherings.
This month, we are thrilled to present a special program featuring Kara Petersen—a writer, psychotherapist, and deep thinker on mythology, art, and psychology.

Archetypes of the Feminine from Ancient to Modern in Art & Nature
Throughout history, the feminine form has been revered, symbolized, and woven into mythology, art, and nature—but how do these archetypes continue to shape our understanding of womanhood today? Kara Petersen will guide us through an exploration of the divine feminine across cultures and time, revealing its deep connections to our modern world.
This promises to be a fascinating conversation on the power, beauty, and mystery of the feminine in art, nature, and human experience.
Meet Kara Petersen
Kara Petersen was raised in Carpinteria, surrounded by myth and the tides of stories. She wrote her first poem at age eight and later pursued a degree in Comparative Literature at UCSB, followed by a graduate degree in Counseling and Depth Psychology at Pacifica Graduate Institute. Her work explores the miraculous in the mundane, the silliness in the sublime, and the divine in daily life.
Her most recent publication, Cosmic Wonder, appeared in Parabola Magazine, and she is currently working on a book titled The Supernatural Vulva: Archeomythologies of Plant, Animal, and Cosmic Bodies.
When she’s not writing or seeing clients, you can find her hanging out with her dog, Shadow.
