The Age-old Art of Print Making, Feb 8 at 7pm

The Carpinteria Woman’s Club invites you to join us for an evening of artistic expression with artist, teacher, and fellow member, Janey Cohen

Wednesday, February 8 at 7 pm at the Clubhouse located at 1059 Vallecito.

Janey is excited to teach us all how to create and carve a design onto a unique rubber plate, then print our original artwork onto cardstock, making beautiful greeting cards for Valentine’s Day or any occasion. No prior experience is needed. You will be able to take home your rubber stamp and several cards printed in a variety of colors. You can use your stamp again and again to create cards, gift-wrap, fabric, etc. All materials will be provided.

Wear old clothes and bring a smock or apron. The presentation is free of charge. Please bring a sweet or savory Valentine’s dish or a bottle of wine to share.

Janey Cohen has been a local teacher for the past 38 years and after retiring from the classroom has found time to rediscover the artist within. She is currently focusing on the medium of watercolor, and you can see images of her work at her website-in-progress  at She is a member of the Santa Barbara Art Association, and is actively involved with the Carpinteria Arts Center.

Ring in the Brand New Year with the Carpinteria Womans Club

Healthy Living to 100!      Wednesday, Jan. 11th 7pm- 9pm

Brian Kane, Chiropractor, Wellness Director and founder of Carpinteria Wellness Center along with Kendall Hassemer, Naturopathic Doctor will present an informative and aspirational program entitled Healthy Living to 100!

This interactive presentation will empower you with some healthy living tips to start the year off right , and will provide vital information in the areas of nutrition, tips on managing stress and introducing a 21 day purification program that will be starting in the community in late January.

Brian Kane is the Wellness Director and owner of Carpinteria Wellness Center. He has a Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Southern California University of Health Sciences and one of his areas of specialty is in clinical nutrition. He also works at Kalani Total Health Center in Oxnard which is the large integrative health center between Los Angeles and San Francisco. Brian resides here in Carpinteria with his wife and 5 children.

Kendall Hassemer has a naturopathic doctorate and has also studied with many master yoga teachers. She combines her love of whole-foods nutrition and yoga, as well as classical Chinese medicine, craniosacral bodywork, intuition, anatomy and physiology, and the outdoors, to energize and renew her clients via academic classes at UC-Santa Barbara, private sessions, workshops, and retreats.

Carpinteria Wellness Center started as a therapeutic massage center in 2015 and is evolving this year as an integrative health center adding such additional services as chiropractic, cranial sacral therapy, nutrition services and naturopathic medicine. A grand opening/ribbon cutting as a newly evolved integrative health center will be held on Thursday, January 12th from 4-5:30pm to meet our practitioners and for appetizers, free massages and a raffle.

Meet the author and illustrator of “I AM HERE” Wednesday, Nov 9th at 7pm

for a special evening with author, Lynette Gaona and illustrator, Sara Wilcox as they talk about their book: “I AM HERE”

“I am Here” is a book that connects qualities in ourselves to nature inspiring kids to live their best life with purpose.
Author, Lynette Gaona is a singer, songwriter, vocal coach and author from Santa Barbara. She has five fabulous kids who are featured on the pages of this book and to whom she is grateful for all they have taught her.
Illustrator, Sara Wilcox has been drawing since she was able to hold a pencil. She’s an illustrator, graphic designer, muralist, and henna tattoo artist.  Follow Sara here:

TONIGHT – Wed Oct 12 Dia De Los Muertos

Please join us on Wed, October 12 at 7:00pm. For a special presentation by Lisa Thomas on Celebrating Dia De Los Muertos in Carpinteria: The history and future of our home grown festival!

Lisa Thomas, is the founder and Artistic Director of Dia De Los Muertos (DDLM)  Carpinteria, and has brought the spectacular cultural traditions of this ceremony, including a parade, art exhibit, creative workshops and live performances to our community since 2014. She holds an M.A. in Clinical Psychology and has worked in the Juvenile Justice System as an Expressive Arts Therapist & Social Worker. A photographer and  community organizer, she is also an Artist in Residence for S.B. Summer Solstice.
The Festival begins with a parade that starts at the Carpinteria Library on Sat, Oct. 29 at 4 pm.
This year the Carpinteria Womans Club is proud to sponsor the after-parade celebration on Sat, Oct. 29, from 4:30-7:30 pm.

School Board Candidates Forum, Tuesday Oct 18th 7pm- 9pm

On Tuesday, October 18, the Carpinteria Woman’s Club and the Carpinteria Chamber of Commerce will co-sponsor an educational School Board Candidates forum. The public is encouraged to come learn more about the candidates, Gary Blair, Maureen Claffey Foley, and Rogelio Delgado, and where they stand on issues pertaining to the Carpinteria Unified School District. Each candidate will answer the same three pre-determined questions, and audience members are invited to submit additional questions for the candidates, which will be posed as time allows.  Please join us for this informative evening to learn more about your school board candidates.

Join MoJo Coastwalk at Padaro Grill and walk into Carpinteria

Saturday, July 16th at 1pm!

Join MoJo Coastwalk as we make our way through Carpinteria! Come enjoy lunch by the sea at Padaro Beach Grill– we’ll be arriving by foot around 1 pm. After lunch, all are welcome to continue hiking with us as we continue making our way south to Rincon (a ~5.5 mile walk). If you’re only available for lunch, that’s cool too!

**Post-lunch hike details**
3 pm: Walk from Padaro Beach Grill to Carpinteria State Beach (2.25 miles)

4 pm: Walk from Carpinteria State Beach to Rincon (3.1 miles), likely ending at 6 pm

You’re welcome to start with us at Padaro Beach Grill, or meet later at Carpinteria State Beach.

PRO TIP: Leave a car if you’re driving with a friend or bicycle at either the start or end point to help with shuttling!

MoJo Coastwalk is a a through-hike and public outreach campaign of the CCT. As we hike, we are acting as ambassadors for the California Coastal Trail Association (CCTA), an organization that has been advocating for completion of the trail for over 30 years. We’ve set out to hike the entire California coastline to raise awareness about the CCT and reinvorgate the movement to complete it.

The Miracle of the END of POLIO  in India.

and how the second most populated country in the world went from being the country with the most cases of polio to being polio free for 5 years.

This past February, Debbie Murphy traveled with 12 other Central Coast Rotarians to India to assist with a National Immunization Day.  Join us to  learn more as Deb shares the colorful and captivating photos from her journey.  Admission is free~Please invite a friend and bring a dish or bottle of wine to share.

About MoJo Coastwalk

Morgan (Mo) and Jocelyn (Jo) both earned their Master’s degrees in Coastal Marine Resource Management from the Bren School of Environmental Science & Management at UC Santa Barbara. Following graduation, they each spent a year working in government agencies to gain experience in marine policy. During this time, they learned about the California Coastal Trail and decided to through-hike the trail in the summer of 2016 to raise awareness about the need to complete the CCT, and celebrate the 40th year anniversary of the Coastal Act.

They will be receiving funding support from the State Coastal Conservancy through an Explore the Coast grant, as well as logistical support from the California Coastal Trail Association, Coastwalk California, California Coastal Commission, and California State Parks.
